The SPL Rear Traction (aka Trailing) Arms eliminate the OEM bushing deflection that is a common cause (or contributor) to wheel hop on hard acceleration and gear changes, and provide the necessary adjustability to the rear traction arms to refine the kinematics and accommodate a wide range of ride heights and suspension setups.
Technical
Reduced Wheel Hop
Keeps the Tire Planted
The OEM traction arms have rubber bushings that deflect under load. This deflection stores and rapidly releases energy back into the suspension which feeds the wheel hop cycle. The SPL arms use spherical bushings to eliminate this and provide more predictable rear handling behavior.
Faster Response, More Stability
No Deflection Under Load
The OEM arms deflect under both braking and acceleration loads, causing a floaty, disconnected feeling. SPL arms utilize spherical bushings and a more rigid arm design to eliminate this deflection and provide more predictable handling.
Adjustable Kinematics
Fine Tune the Rear Geometry
The SPL traction/trailing arms give you the ability to fine-tune the rear kinematics to maintain the optimal bump geometry. When you change the rear toe or camber, you're adjusting the pivot point and/or the arm length of just one or two arms. This moves the virtual ball joint position and changes the dynamic alignment. The SPL adjustable traction arm allows you to make precise adjustments to the rear geometry with less compromise.
Reduced Weight
Better Suspension Performance
The OEM trailing arms are flimsy stamped steel that are stitch welded. They're heavy and designed to collapse with hard impacts, making them prone to bending under repeated hard loading. This makes them a safe choice for a street car, but not ideal for high performance setups. The SPL traction arms are made from 6061-T6 billet aluminum, 4130 chromoly, and 52100 steel to put strength where it's needed while also being the lightest arms on the market.
SPL arms are 2 - 6 lbs lighter than OEM and popular aftermarket options. That weight savings has a considerable impact on the suspension performance when it can be accelerated between 2 - 30+ Gs during hard driving, particularly over curbs and bumps where it can take 100 - 150+ lbs of force out of the suspension.
Benefits
- Reduced Wheel Hop
- Sharpened Throttle Response
- Improved Braking Stability
- Lightweight: 1.29 lbs (0.59 kg) per Side (53% Lighter than OEM)
- Optimize Rear Kinematics
- Improved Suspension Performance
Materials
- 6061-T6 Billet Aluminum Link and Clevis (Anodized Black)
- 6061-T6 Billet 360° Clamps and Spacers
- 4130 ChroMoly Steel Stud
- Zinc Plated Class 10.9 Hardware

- FK USA PTFE-lined Spherical Bearings
Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH)
The SPL rear traction arms will moderately increase NVH over rough roads and bumps. The traction arm mounts to an OEM rubber bushing in the knuckle and the rear subframe has considerable compliance. Going to spherical or solid bushings in these locations will contribute to the NVH, but also provides even more handling benefits, so there are some options for tuning the right about of "race car."
